It can work with or without a modem.  The on-screen modem makes it easy for you to see what's happening as calls are made to get your credit reports. The flashing lights show receive, transmit carrier detect, data set ready, and error activity -- especially helpful to our telephone support staff if you should need us to help get things going smoothly. By the way we allow speed settings from 2400 up to 115,200. The speed of the credit bureau's modem will likely be your only limitation. |
